Joint Justice & Daphne call - action grants to support national or transnational projects to enhance the rights of victims of crime/victims of violence (JUST/2015/SPOB/AG/VICT)
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (a municipality in Liverpool City Region, UK) is looking for partners for a trans-national project bid it is planning under the Daphne programme for prevention of violence and support to victims of violence. Knowsley MBC has partnered with CRC (probation) and police colleagues to lead in the UK on this programme and is looking for transnational partners who are delivering programmes for victims of domestic abuse. Knowsley are looking to enhance the rights of victims by making perpetrators more accountable for their offences. Victims often state that they are “re-victimised” by the criminal justice process, being made to move away from their home and being asked why they chose to stay with the perpetrator. Knowsley proposes to work with colleagues to:
- Increase awareness/support through appropriate training of staff involved in the criminal justice process;
- Develop a bespoke perpetrator challenge/support programme to assist them to understand the impact their behaviour has;
- Develop an intervention to support victims to reduce risks to them and make them stronger without the need to move and disrupt them/their children’s lives;
- Where appropriate offer, through restorative conferencing, an opportunity for victims to meet their perpetrator in a safe environment.
